Reading Challenge Roulette (here we go again)

2019 Reading challenges for Alexia's Books and Such: What's In A Name, Bookish Resolutions, Library Love, and Mount TBR Challenge.

Another year, another stab at reading challenges.

I know, I know....I have a dismal history with reading challenges and rarely complete them. But hope springs eternal! And you have to admit, these are some pretty good challenges!

What's In A Name Challenge

What's In A Name Challenge

I used to do this challenge and missed it, so going to give it another shot. Carolina Book Nook is the new host this year, taking over from Charlie at The Worm Hole. I really need to plan ahead with this one instead of winging it!

The Details:

  • The challenge extends from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019. You can sign up any time, but only count books that you read between those dates.
  • Read a book in any format (hard copy, ebook, audio) with a title that fits in each category.
  • Don’t use the same book for more than one category.
  • Creativity for matching the categories is not only allowed, it’s encouraged!
  • You can choose your books as you go or make a list ahead of time.

The Categories:

  1. A precious stone/metal (ex. Ruby Holler, The Silver Chair)
  2. A temperature (ex. In Cold Blood, Love in the Time of Global Warming)
  3. A month or day of the week (ex. Tuesdays with Morrie, March)
  4. A meal (ex. Breakfast at Tiffany’s, A Feast for Crows)
  5. Contains the word “girl” or “woman” (ex. Gone Girl, The Woman in the Window)
  6. Contains both the words “of” AND “and” (ex. A Court of Thorns and Roses, The Book of Blood and Shadow)

Bookish Resolutions Challenge

Bookish Resolution Challenge

Love the idea of this challenge! I already have a blog goal page, but it's been sadly neglected for the past few years. This challenge should help me get back on track!

The Details:

  • Sign Up is between December 11th to February 28th, the challenge starts January 1st and ends December 31st 2019
  • Create between 3 or more resolutions related to books/book blogging/writing (you can have as many resolutions are you would like, there is no limit)
  • Since this is a year long challenge we ask that you pick goals with some longevity. Pick a goal that will take you no less than 4 months to complete.

My Goals:

  1. Read 100 books in 2019
  2. Post monthly wrap-ups
  3. Send monthly newsletter
  4. Bring NetGalley ratio up to 80%
  5. Complete at least one item from my blog goal list every month
  6. Read at least 10 of my ebook freebies

Library Love Challenge

Library Love Challenge

One of my favorite challenges, as I LOVE my local library!

The Details:

  • The goal is to read at least twelve books from the library, but you can read more. While twelve is the minimum, there is no maximum limit.
  • Any format will work for this challenge (prints, ebooks, or audios); as long as you checked it out from the library, it counts.
  • Books can be any genre (fiction, nonfiction, romance, fantasy, mystery, thriller, horror, etc.).
  • Crossovers from other reading challenges are allowed, including re-reads. The goal is to support your local library and save money.

Levels:

  1. Dewey Decimal: Read 12 books
  2. Thrifty Reader: Read 24 books
  3. Overdrive Junkie: Read 36 books
  4. Library Addict: Read 48 books
  5. Library Card on Fire: Read 60+ books

Mount TBR Challenge

My TBR piles are getting out of control so fingers crossed this challenge motivates me to start reading my old books!

The Details:

  • Challenge runs from January 1 to December 31, 2019.
  • You may sign up anytime from now until November 1st, 2019.
  • Books must be owned by you prior to January 1, 2019. No library books.
  • Audiobooks and E-books may count if they are yours and they are one of your primary sources of backlogged books.]
  • Books may be used to count for other challenges as well.

Challenge Levels:

  1. Pike's Peak: Read 12 books from your TBR pile/s
  2. Mount Blanc: Read 24 books from your TBR pile/s
  3. Mt. Vancouver: Read 36 books from your TBR pile/s
  4. Mt. Ararat: Read 48 books from your TBR piles/s
  5. Mt. Kilimanjaro: Read 60 books from your TBR pile/s
  6. El Toro: Read 75 books from your TBR pile/s
  7. Mt. Everest: Read 100 books from your TBR pile/s
  8. Mount Olympus (Mars): Read 150+ books from your TBR pile/s

Are you taking part in any reading challenges this year? I always vow not to, then see all kinds of awesome challenges and find myself signing up for them left and right! ha! All in all, not a bad vice. Wish me luck!
