“Books are for people who wish they were somewhere else.” ~ Mark Twain

Who am I? Why am I here?

Ran a poll awhile back asking if I should create an About Me Page and the results were 100% yes (I voted no, so that one doesn't count!). So ta-daaaa!.....*waves*

Wasn't sure what to include so, like a good little blogger, I Googled the topic. Personally, I like the Five W format:

Who:     Terri, aka Alexia
What:    Reader. Reviewer. Blogger.
Where:  A NJ girl living on the Carolina coast
When:   2009-present
Why:     By popular demand...

I have to admit that I don't really read About Me pages. When I find a new blog, one of the first things I do is check out their archives to see if we have similar tastes in books. That tells me more than whether or not you raise prize peonies (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Another helpful Google suggestion was to answer questions:

Explain your profile picture:

my cat Didi
This is my cat Didi. I really like this picture so when I needed an avatar, spontaneously uploaded this one. It's sort of become my "official" picture and I use it for all of my avatars now. Sadly, Didi passed away. She was a sweet girl, and I still miss her.

Is there really an Alexia?

Nope. Just me, Terri. Although if I ever went on the run, that's my go-to name!

Then what's up with the name of your blog?

I tend to be spontaneous and don't make long-range plans. I started out on Twitter and, as I've always liked the name Alexia, used that for my Twitter handle. Read an article that said if you wanted to be taken seriously on Twitter, you needed a website or a blog. So I created one and used the same name I used on Twitter. Who knew I'd be around this long? Maybe I should have chosen a different blog name....although the "Dear Alexia" emails do make me smile.

What is the Ultimate Answer?

42

What's up with that last question?

You've never read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? You need to remedy that posthaste!

  1. I love this page! I have to admit I'm that crazy stalker person who reads everyone's about me page. I love the way you've broken it all down. Everyone should be made to explain why they chose their avatars!

  4. Lan is so funny! I rarely look at About Me pages myself but this one is informative. I didn't know Alexia wasn't your real name and I like the story about your sweet kitty.

  5. I like the explanation of Alexia too... I knew it wasn't the "real" you, but I liked using it anyway. I will probably flip back and forth depending on the medium, but I'm guessing that's sort of what you expect.

Wow, sorry, I'm WAY late commenting in this!
