The hunter becomes the hunted. . . .

West Grayer is done killing. She defeated her Alternate, a twin raised by another family, and proved she’s worthy of a future. She’s ready to move on with her life.

The Board has other plans. They want her to kill one last time, and offer her a deal worth killing for. But when West recognizes her target as a ghost from her past, she realizes she’s in over her head. The Board is lying, and West will have to uncover the truth of the past to secure her future.

How far will the Board go to keep their secrets safe? And how far will West go to save those she loves? With nonstop action and surprising twists, Elsie Chapman’s intoxicating sequel to Dualed reveals everything. (Goodreads)

My Thoughts:

This is one of those sequels that not only lives up to the first book, but exceeds it! Really loved catching up with West and seeing what she's been up to since the last book. I was glad to see that she's still dealing with the trauma of being a striker and having to kill her Alternate, as no one should be comfortable with killing. I liked her relationship with her counselor, and that she was even seeing a therapist to begin with. Good for her!

Just when she's starting to get her life back together, someone from the Board shows up and makes West an offer she can't refuse. If she kills three targets, the reward will be amazing. Only West realizes that she's done with killing and has to come up with a last-minute alternate plan.

I liked that West didn't have all the answers and made mistakes. While I didn't agree with all of her choices, I could understand her reasoning. And when she realizes that she's been lied to and manipulated? Watch out!

This is one of those series that you should probably read in order, as a bit of background makes everything clearer. Full of interesting characters and a decently paced plot, I found myself wanting more. Not sure if there will be a third book, but would love to see what happens next for West and friends!

  1. Series, huh? I'll trust you tell me it's complete, then I'll lock myself away and read the whole lot. I wonder what the next book will be like? :-)

    1. Sometimes it's just easier to wait until a series is complete so you don't have to wait so long between books. Then we can binge-read! Love binge reading! :)

  2. Glad to hear this series is still going strong, that if anything part three exceeds the previous two.
