Word Verification Balderdash

Word Verification Balderdash
Word Verification Balderdash is a new weekly meme hosted by Sheila at One Person's Journey Through A World Of Books.

Here's how to play: Write down all the word verifications you come across while posting blog comments. You then play Balderdash with them. The definition of Balderdash: An oft used strategy to elect your own fake definition in an attempt to give it credibility in the minds of your fellow players.…in other words, you make up your own definition for the word.

I'm not very good at this, but hoping I will get better with practice. Here's what I came up with this past week.

Dittio: beatnik version of ditto, popular in the late 1950's

Dergen: one who dergs

Quist: a quest completed in record time

Typors: those who treat typhoid

Rapystri: rapping tapestries

As I said, I'm hoping that I get better at this game, as it's a good way to keep the evil word verification requests from driving me crazy. Thanks for such a great meme Sheila!

  4. This sounds really fun, I'm definitely going to have to start doing this. I love your definition of rapystri, I actually laughed out loud (and then got some weird looks)

  5. Hi Alexia! You certainly don't encounter those words anymore in everyday speech. I'm glad you've shared them. Although, what is "dergs"?

  6. Wow, I laughed at these. I'd say you're really good. Maybe I'll give it a try too, but I'm not sure I'd be as creative. =)
