Book Blurb:

Andrea Lynn Katz is a graduate of the "C" School (as in cancer) with a C.C.S. degree (as in Certified Cancer Survivor). Chemo KateLynn: Humorous Perspectives on Life Before Cancer and After Diagnosis is a witty and cleverly illustrated testament to her conviction that laughter is the best medicine and, with cancer as part of her everyday live, she proves there is still plenty to laugh about.

Chemo KateLynn admits that "cancer does suck," but funny things happen along the way while fighting the disease. Chemotherapy may have taken her hair, but no amount of chemo could make a dent in her funny bone.

My Review:

This is a cute little book with cartoons about the cancer experience that will make you smile. The drawings remind me a little of Cathy, in that they are pretty basic. There are two cartoons per situation, representing life BC (before cancer) and AD (after diagnosis). The categories dealt with are: At the Doctor's, At the Office, At Home, Food & Drink, Beauty, Shopping, and Relaxing. This means that there is bound to be something to tickle everyone. I loved the ones about shopping, desserts, and how to load a dishwasher!

This book would make a nice addition to a gift basket given to someone battling cancer. I know from previous searches that there aren't many humorous books out there, and most of them aren't all that cute or funny.

Update: Am told that this book is due out in October. Also, just found out that Andrea was scheduled to go into the hospital (Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC) for a donor-provided stem cell transplant. It is a very difficult procedure, and she'll be in isolation for anywhere from 4-6 weeks. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
